Thwackery does not collect anything about you, and it does not send anything anywhere. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code in the app. Your saved games sit in the app's own folder on your device. If you buy the early-access subscription, Apple handles the payment and we never see your card, your address or your email.
The rest of this page says the same thing in more detail, and is deliberately short because there is not much to describe. This page is not written in character; it is a real document about a real app.
1 Who this is from
Thwackery is made and published by ExistemAI ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Thwackery app for iPhone and iPad, and this website.
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds nothing from anyone else. Everything it draws is generated in your browser. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard server request logs in order to serve the page to you; that is their processing as our hosting provider, and we do not build profiles from it or connect it to anything else.
2 What the app collects
Nothing. The app does not collect, generate or hold personal data about you. Specifically, and to be concrete about the things people reasonably worry about, there is none of the following:
- No account, login, registration or sign-in of any kind.
- No name, email address, phone number or postal address.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health or location access. The app never asks for these permissions, because it has no use for them.
- No advertising, no ad identifier (IDFA) and no advertising network.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
- No tracking, and no sharing of any data with data brokers or anyone else for advertising or measurement.
- No third-party SDKs at all. The app is the game engine and our own code.
The app's privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares no collected
data types and no tracking, and its App Store privacy label says the same. This page,
the manifest and the label are meant to agree with each other; if you ever find that
they do not, the discrepancy is a bug and we would like to hear about it.
3 What is stored on your device
The app writes a small amount of data into its own container on your device, so that it can remember what you were doing. This never leaves the device unless you choose to include it in your own device backup.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Save slots — campaign progress, records, gold and loot | So you can stop playing and come back |
| Settings — sound, display and control preferences | So the game stays how you left it |
| Whether this install holds an active early-access subscription | So a subscription you are paying for still works on a plane |
Deleting the app removes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means we cannot restore your progress for you if you delete it.
4 What the app sends over the network
The app transmits nothing. It makes no network requests of its own: no telemetry, no remote configuration, no leaderboards, no content downloads.
We want to be straightforward about one thing rather than quietly leaving it out. The project does contain the code for an optional telemetry feature — anonymous performance and session counters, intended to help us find slow levels. It is switched off in the shipping build and sends nothing. If we ever decide to turn it on, we will update this page and the App Store privacy label before a build with it enabled is released, because turning it on without doing that would make both of them untrue.
The one exception is not ours: when you buy or restore a subscription, Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit) talks to Apple. That connection is between your device and Apple, and is covered by section 5.
5 The subscription, and what Apple tells us
Thwackery offers one in-app purchase: Early Access, an auto-renewing monthly
subscription (product identifier
com.existemai.thwackery.earlyaccess.monthly). The commercial terms are on
the terms of use page.
Apple processes the purchase, not us. The payment sheet is Apple's, the money goes to Apple, and we never see your payment card, your billing address or the email address on your Apple Account. We receive no personal data from the transaction. What the app receives back from Apple is, in effect, a yes or no about whether this device holds an active subscription, which it stores locally as described in section 3.
Separately, Apple provides us with the sales and financial reporting it provides to every developer: aggregate figures such as how many subscriptions were bought, renewed or cancelled, in which country, on which day. It is aggregated and does not identify individual customers. That is Apple's data flow rather than ours, we cannot switch it off, and it is described here because pretending it does not exist would be dishonest. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
6 System APIs the app uses
Apple requires developers to declare the reasons they call certain system APIs, even when no data is collected. The app declares three, all of them used by the game engine for ordinary local purposes: file timestamps (reading and writing your save files), system boot time (measuring elapsed time between frames) and available disk space (checking there is room to save). None of these values is transmitted or recorded anywhere.
7 Children
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, so it collects none from children. There is no chat, no user-generated content, no social feature and no advertising, so there is nothing in the app through which a child could disclose information to us or to anyone else. Purchases are controlled by Apple's own account and parental controls, on which we can offer no exemption and hold no data.
8 Your rights
Data protection law — including the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act — gives you rights to access, correct, delete and port the personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its sale or sharing.
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to give you, correct, delete or port, and nothing to sell or share. We have never sold or shared personal data, because we have never had any. If you want the data the app has stored, it is on your device; deleting the app deletes it.
You are welcome to write to us and ask us to confirm this in writing, and we will. For anything relating to your purchase, your Apple Account or a refund, Apple is the party that holds that information.
9 Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this page, we will change this page, and we will do it before the changed build is released rather than after. The effective date at the top will tell you when it last changed. Because the app has no account and no way of contacting you, this page is the notice.
